Cursus

A variety of laws and Codes apply within our organization, including the Medical Treatment Contracts Act (in Dutch: Wet op de Geneeskundige Behandelingsovereenkomst or WGBO), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR; in Dutch: Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming or AVG), the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, and the UMCG Research Code. At the UMCG, we are committed to abiding by these regulations.

The GDPR went into effect in May 2018. This law establishes clear requirements for handling personal data for purposes of research. Our patients, research participants, and society trust that any personal (and privacy-sensitive) data that they share with us will be in safe hands. Both the UMCG as a whole and you as an individual are responsible for living up to this promise. We invite you to think about how you can take this responsibility in your own practice.
